I had been to my grand daughter’s birthday party. Siena was seven that day and her friends arrived with generous gifts. There was a colourful piniata, wrappings, ribbons, streamers, all manner of sweets and cakes. A jumble of happy excess: colours, noise, children, bits and pieces, life in the making, Lovely thick paint partly layered in colourful strokes. All a shade over the top.
