What is this but many different, closely related golds which, being only slightly different and therefore close to each other, seem to shimmer. The touch of pink warms the golds and its absence cools.
Is this a landscape? Is there an horizon? Or is it merely a flat plane?
One may look at it both ways and then perceptions flip from one to the other. For me this is an expression of an emotion outside the happenings and objects of everyday life. Perhaps a muse or a meditation.
Perhaps a meditation of different shades and patterns of light, like the experience of a Bach fugue played on piano or harpsichord where similar melodies are interwoven with variances in harmonic tension but still a similar mood or affect is maintained throughout the work.
